Whidbey Island Race Week

The Pacific Coast Championships are quickly approaching and its time for some serious consideration. We've worked hard to establish a fleet of Moore's in the Northwest that have followed Brad's lead and have been traveling south to enjoy some great one design sailing in some of California's best venues in the boats we all love. Now it's time for us to reciprocate and offer up one of our great venues to the Moore fleet with the 2008 Whidbey Island Race Week, and unlike Key West Race Week, we'll go race if it's blowing 25 - just ask the Moore's that came north in 2004! We've got the ear of the Race Organizers, and they're offering things hand over foot to make sure everyone feels welcome and can make the trip. Make it a full vacation and head out cruising in the San Juan's for a week or two afterwards, there are BnB's all over with docks and anchorage's. Anywho, here are some specifics to help you in your decision to come on up, you can get more information at:

The Moore's and a couple other of the one design fleets will receive preferential treatment because it is their PCCs. Race committee plans on 2 to 3 races a day. There will be separate start and finish lines in hopes of increasing the number of starts.

Mount Gay rum is the sponsor this year
The evening party will be about 2 hours a night 6.30ish to 8.30ish
There are bands scheduled every night
There will also be volleyball and whiffleball tournaments

There is pavement for motorhomes/vans. There are no hookups.
Grassy area available for tents. Air mattresses are always a good addition

Facilities:

Race Fee extras:
There is no fee for trailer/car parking.
Hoist fees will be waved if we get 15 boats. If not it is $50 round trip on the Mono Lift.
Moorage is about $84 for the week, but the fleet may be covering non-NW fleet boats moorage.Order of hoist out at the end will be by pulling a ticket -- but Northwest Moore's will give up better tickets to those traveling far. Ramp launching is also an option.
Entry is $350 for the week. Bill has gotten them to waive the late fee for the Moore 24's, don't pay it Identification Fee (wrist band for free rum/beer and the awards tent) $55/person for all 6 nights (Sun - Fri).Fuel, at 1800 miles round trip, guessing 15 miles per gallon and $4.35 per gallon your looking at $516.00, 12mpg=$652, not prohibitive for a weeks vacation for 4 or more.

Supplies:
Town has all the amenities you'll need including groceries, and restaurants. There is a breakfast available at the yacht club. Bars and Restaurants are a 15 minute walk. Grocery is a 25 minute walk, or short drive.
