Underdeck hatch?

Published in

Are the parts to do the conversion to underdeck hatch available? I understand there's a mold in Santa Cruz. 2 boats in the great white north are interested. Any leads would be appreciated! Thanks,
Simon

Simon, I know the guy that has the mold and I know he won't give out the mold. But I'll give him a call and see if he is willing to make a couple for you guys if you would like.

Joel, thanks a lot. That would be great. Not sure if my contact info is still in the Class Directory and can't check (access denied!) -- sail #70. Just to confirm we're looking for 2 of these.

Simon,
I called Jeff and he said that he would build you two slide under hatches. It might take him a while, it has in the past, but I will get him on it. Jeff said that it would cost $250.00 each, which is a good price I think. It still leaves you lots of work to have it installed though, but that can be fun, and the boat is way better with one of those things on. If he can get them done before the Ditch Run I could probably get them delivered back up to Seattle with someone. I know that's not where you are, but it sure is closer.
Let me know if that price will work for you guys. (m24cedes@sbcglobal.net)

Joel, thanks for your help

Joel, thanks for your help with this. $500 for 2 sounds great, and if they can find their way to Seattle that's excellent as well. Cheers.

Simon/Joel,

I'd be interested in getting one too.

Gilles Combrisson has done

Gilles Combrisson has done the under hatch deck conversion on his #106. I think he used the original SC mold, but said it wouldn't be hard to make a new one.

He just did a mast step rebuild for me on #12 after a partial collapse aft of the step. He did really nice work at a good price. I'm going to have him do the under hatch conversion on #12 when the budget allows.
